My cell phone "New Every 2" is coming up on Saturday.  I've been searching and comparing and reading about all these new cell phones.  I'm stuck with Verizon.. well I won't say "stuck" because I've actually been fairly happy with my service.  Never had any billing problems or service problems, aside from the traditional annoyances that accompany every cell phone carrier.  Needless to say, the Apple fan-boy in me has actually allowed me to skip on the iPhone.  Crazy I know.

Flashback to a couple months ago, my wife purchased the new Blackberry Curve.  I was extremely impressed with the BB OS and the simplicity of use.  I admit to being jealous.  I've been stuck with my Motorola Q for..well.. two years.  I have grown accustomed to the Windows Mobile way of life, but I am ready to switch either to WM6.1 or BB OS.  I've actually knocked it down to three phones, we'll see which one the Verizon salesperson can win me over with.  I apologize in advance to my wife who might have to accompany me on that journey.  One thing I've become increasingly interested in is the ability to tether, for the technologically challenged, that's the ability to hook your cell phone to your PC and use it as a modem while you're on the go.  You can actually use the cell phone wireless network for your Internet.  A few of the phones I've been interested in don't have this option, but harness a few other options I find important.

Reading all of these reviews and comments on the reviews I see the term "iPhone" killer.  The iPhone is not the first touch screen phone, we all know that.  However; it IS the first touch screen phone from Apple, and the underlying Apple OS and ARM processing makes it a pretty slick puppy.  It does what it does well.  I don't think that taking every single touch screen phone to hit the market since the inception of the iPhone and comparing the two, and then calling the victor an "iPhone" killer is sufficient.  As big of a fan-boy I am of Apple, I have grown sick of the "i" phenomenon, that is, taking every single invention created since the wheel and prefixing an "i" to the name. Oh that's great news your new headphones work with the iPod, but you don't have to brand them iBuds, or iHeadphones (pretty sure iPhone is taken somehow).  It's getting out of hand and we all know it.  Does iFire burn brighter and warmer than just fire?  How about iWater?  Is it tastier and less filling than just water?  Don't forget the iKids.  Smarter and Friendlier than your normal neighborhood ragamuffin.

I'll step off my soapbox now.  I think all the Christmas shopping and emails trying to sell me some new iCrap has worn it's way into the mushy substance I pass off as a brain.  Hopefully a new phone is in the near future for me.  As soon as I make a decision I'll be sure to show it off on here :)

Oh yeah, the wife and my first Christmas together as a married couple!  Very excited, and I mean 1989 NES excited.
