So this, as I understand it, is a little late in the game for a rehash of 2008.  2008 was a good year, a good even number, two zeros in the middle so you can't resist drawing eyes when you write it.  A lot of things went down in 2008.  A "forever down in history" election no matter who would have won.  We had the introduction of the new single slab of aluminum 15lb. MacBooks.  We had 29 days in February! I had another birthday! We laughed, we loved, but more importantly we have another year to do it all again.  Maybe not another election though.

So here I sit at work, vacation days are all over.  The traveling has come to an end.  I figured I would take a moment and share with you some of the great of '08 for ME.  Not of the world, though I do believe that many of these events have increased the overall awesomeness of this little green earth.  So without anymore worthless comments, may I present the:

CHOWLB TOP 8 OF 2008 (in dolby digital, not all browsers may participate, no purchase necessary)

8. Rewind to April 1, 2008.  I'm going to tell you story, a seemingly narcissistic tale if you will.  I thought I had pulled off one of the more clever April Fool's jokes to date.  Flashback to work.  I have my boss fill out one of those yellow "while you were out" slips for one of my buddies.  Let's name him...umm..Jimmy.  Here's a recap:

To:  Jimmy

From: Boss Lady

While you were out: Mr. Shawk from SCA called (Urgent)

Phone: 555-123-4567

Upon further inspection you'll notice the SCA would stand for The South Carolina Aquarium.  A phone call later... I hope you get the picture.  I thought it was great.  It's not copyrighted so use at your own discretion.  Just imagine a confused young man demanding to talk with Mr. SHAWK at the Aquarium.  *wink

7.  We were the proud new owners of a new car!!! Cherry Red 2008 Honda Accord.  Smooooooth baby... smooooth.  Status...Cha Ching.

6.  Also the proud new owners of a heap of debt!!!! We bought a house!  I think this is the best decision we've ever made so far.  It's great mowing a yard every now and again.  Especially when it only takes you 15 minutes :)  There's soooo much acreage in these parts (apply your own sarcasm).  Falling interest rates and great incentives are enough to drag you in, hook, line, sinker, bonus room included. Status.... CHA CHA CHA CHING.

5. THE DARK KNIGHT!! I don't think I need commentary.  I'll let you simmer on this one.

4. Canon was born! He's pretty awesome.  He makes a lot of funny noises and he gives me a run for my money during our eating contests.  I hope he decides to stick around for a while.  When he gets a little older I'll just have to tell him the grandparents have always been a little crazy :)

3. Honeymoon in Jamaica mon!  Right near da beech, boiiii! Seriously, this is an amazing little island.  OK hold on.. the resorts are amazing little places on this island.  Virgin fruit drinks, Ting, and enough water and sand in the suitcase to build a small beach back home.  This truly is paradise... unless.. you have plans for #2...

2. We survived the most horrific... God awful... terrifying... fearful... shocking... frightening horse back ride in the entire world.  I'll go as far to say in the HISTORY of the world.  This great idea came during the honeymoon, hey honey let's go horseback riding!  Yeah lets jump in this little "taxi," travel deeeeep into the heart of Negril and go horseback riding.  You should ALWAYS listen to your wife in a situation like this.  If they have a bad feeling... it's usually right.  I don't care how macho or tough you think you are.  This brings out the fear you suppressed as a five year old.  Listen close... closer... closer... DON'T EVER LEAVE THE RESORT FOR ANYTHING!  KEEP YOUR MONEY! SNORKELING IS FREE!

1. And you guessed it.  We got married!!!! Simply the best thing to date... and is the best decision I've ever made personally.  Sorry to get sappy, but you asked for it.

Actually, come to think of it.. you didn't..  well consider it a freebie!
